The
following is a basic outline of the core criteria we use
when evaluating artists for participation in our service.
It is a non-exhaustive list.
Audio Quality: All audio samples
should have a quality comparable to a professional recording.
Occasional exceptions to this rule may be made under certain
circumstances and when all other aspects of song quality
are supurb.
Song Quality: This can besomewhat
subjective with regards to style but there are objective
measures of song quality. It is suggested that if you have
some concern over what makes for a quality song, you pick
up a good songwriting book. A good songwriting book should
include discussions on lyric, rhyme, structure, meter, melody
etc.
Production Quality: Was the
music professionally produced with the aid of an experienced
sound engineer? Does it sound professionally produced? Is
it on a CD available for purchase? Note that lack of a CD
or the presentation of a demo quality recording does not
in itself preclude someone from inclusion in the service.
Community Standards: Is the
material free from profanity and suggestions or descriptions
of acts of violence etc? Would it qualify as-is for standard
radio airplay or does it need to be edited first?
Copyright: Are you the rightful
owner of the copyright to the material submitted? If not,
did you receive permission to record and/or present the
material?
Genre: Is the genre listed
anywhere at musicshowcase.com or similar to one that is
listed?
